While serving as career officers with The United States Army, both brothers, Alan B. Aker, MD, and John B. Aker, DMin, were driven with a desire to serve and care for people in a far more personal way. Years later, this commitment brought the brothers together in the formation of The Aker Kasten Home Health Care Agency where they purposed to care for more than the physical needs of their patients and embraced their emotional and spiritual care as well, striving to become the top Florida home health agency.

Initially trained as a soldier at The United State Military Academy at West Point — where he excelled as both a scholar and a leader — and after serving a tour in combat arms, Alan wrestled with a desire to serve people in a more personal way. After leaving active duty, Alan completed medical school and specialized in ophthalmology. Alan, along with his wife, Dr. Ann Kasten, later opened The Aker Kasten Eye Center. Together, they have been caring for the local community for more than twenty years.

John entered The United States Army at the beginning of The Vietnam Conflict, and, after intensive training in Military Intelligence, served as a covert agent. After completing a Master of Divinity, and later a Doctor of Ministry, John completed his twenty years in the active and reserve Army as a chaplain. John, along with his wife Rose, provided leadership to a college and seminary, pastored several mega churches, and served as president and CEO of an international humanitarian and missions agency ministering in The Former Soviet Union. John is often sought after as a speaker and has enjoyed a speaking ministry which has taken him around the world. He has also published three books and countless journal articles.

The brothers dreamed of one day working together, joining their shared passion for medicine and ministry. Their dream is realized in The Aker Kasten Home Health Care Agency, the top Florida home health agency, where improving the quality of life for those with chronic or terminal illness, the isolated and infirmed, is their mission – and to do it with excellence is their motivation.
